Our Beginnings

The story of The Advocates begins in 1992 when founder Matt Driggs first started practicing law in the Salt Lake City area. Initially, his practice focused on multiple areas of law, including personal injury and estate planning.

When Matt saw the real-world difference he could make for injury victims, he focused solely on personal injury law. He found it rewarding to help people in need through their recovery.

Growth Into California

In 2024, The Advocates opened a new location in The Golden State. San Diego is our home base, but it’s been our great pleasure to help clients throughout California. We have two dedicated California attorneys who have seen the full range of personal injuries and the life-altering effects such damage has on people. Our goal is to use the legal process to get our clients a settlement that gives them the financial breathing room they need to recover.

We know many injury victims hesitate to seek legal representation—whether because of their perception of accident lawyers or their fear of drawn-out court cases. Since our first day in this great state, we wanted to bust these stereotypes, not through words, but through our actions. Our process always puts clients first, giving them the respect inherent to any person and a steadfast belief that they always have a compassionate, expert legal team on their side.

The California Advocates Today

We do not do our work in isolation. As individuals and a company, we are members of a larger tapestry integrated into our families, neighborhoods, cities, and society. Personal injury law is what we do best, but nothing brings us pleasure quite like community involvement. So far, we have participated in the Coronado Fourth of July parade. In the future, we look forward to hosting and participating in local festivals, fairs, races, and more. On the legal side, we manage various personal injury cases. In each claim, we are pursuing whatever our client needs, whether that is access to medical treatment, recouping lost wages, or securing a fair settlement for their pain and suffering.
