Local Idaho Woman Dies in Motorcycle Crash

A local Idaho woman passed away Sunday afternoon in a grisly motorcycle crash. The fatal accident occurred on Highway 395 in Lake County, Oregon, where the operator of the vehicle failed to see the stopped car ahead.

The Idaho couple was heading northbound on Highway 395 before the driver, Jacob Alexander Lepeilbet, 26, of Caldwell, Idaho, smashed into the back of a stopped vehicle. Lepeilbet was driving a 2015 Harley-Davidson with his passenger, Hailey Michelle Ernest, 35, of Boise, Idaho.

Oregon State Police later reported that Lepeilbet hadn’t seen the 1995 Ford Taurus stopped ahead of them. The driver of the Ford Taurus, Ronald Foltz, 59, of Lakeview, was signaling to turn left just before he was rear-ended and the couple flew off of the motorcycle.

Ernest died at the scene of the motorcycle crash. Lepeilbet was immediately taken to Lake District Hospital, but was later transported by a helicopter to St. Charles Bend.

The driver of the Ford Taurus, Ronald Foltz, suffered very minor injuries.

The highway was blocked for several hours while accident respondents cleared the scene of the accident.
