Motorcycle Accident Kills 1 in Caldwell

A Riggins man died early Monday morning in a motorcycle accident in Caldwell. Idaho State Police said the accident took place at the intersection of Fillmore Street and South 10th Avenue.

Idaho State Police arrived at the scene of the accident and found 19-year old Richard Cook in critical condition. Cook had been riding a 1979 Honda motorcycle down Fillmore when he drove through a stop sign at the intersection with South 10th Avenue. He then drove directly into a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer being driven by Daniel Lasiter, 27, of Caldwell.

Cook was ejected from his motorcycle and died later from his injuries at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center located in downtown Boise. Cook was reported to not have been wearing a helmet at the time of his accident.

Lasiter was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was taken to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell to treat minor injuries.

Idaho State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
